Camp Verde

Town of Camp Verde

Camp Verde’s rich history enthralls with all the stories one might recall when they think of the old west. Ranchers moved into an area that was occupied by Yavapai and Apache natives. Eventually the ranchers convinced the U.S. Cavalry to step in, and Fort Verde was established. The community we know as Camp Verde started in 1865.

Nestled in a valley just less than an hour from Flagstaff, Payson or Phoenix, Camp Verde and the surrounding Verde Valley offer numerous venues for visitors interested in history and cultural heritage. Visitors also enjoy biking, hiking, boating, horseback riding and wine tasting, or just taking in the beauty our community has to offer.

Camp Verde is a quiet, safe place to raise children, with a small town atmosphere and a no-pressure lifestyle where practically everyone knows each other. Located in central Arizona at an elevation of 3,200 feet, a temperate year-round climate makes Camp Verde one of Arizona’s premier destinations. Locals consider Camp Verde “The Center of it All!”
