Town of Clarkdale, Arizona

The first master planned community in Arizona, Clarkdale was originally founded in 1912 as a company town to provide housing and services for the smelter processing ore from the mines located uphill in Jerome.  Ten square miles in size with a population of about 4,100, Clarkdale is now home to an historic, revitalizing downtown plus the first two river access points developed on the perennially-flowing Verde River – unspoiled riparian areas rich in flora and fauna and an Audubon important birding area.  In addition, as a “place that makes sense”, Clarkdale is home to multiple generations of families who have long called this caring community home.

Through our Sustainable Clarkdale Initiative, the Town is providing an entrepreneurial environment rich in innovative, multi-disciplinary solutions and educational and economic opportunities.  Historic tourism, outdoor recreation, arts and entertainment, education, and precision manufacturing are all active economic sectors in Clarkdale.  Free events based at the Town Park with our iconic gazebo offer fun for kids of all ages; outdoor recreational opportunities abound such as kayaking, photography, hiking, fishing and cycling and our three new wine establishments offer visitors tastes of the award-winning developing wine industry.
