VVREO DRIVEN INITIATIVES: The VVREO Board of Directors makes decisions regarding the project and key moves are managed by the board.

VERDE VALLEY BROADBAND COOPERATIVE

Verde Valley Broadband Cooperative is a loosely formed coalition of communities cooperating to bring enhanced broadband to the Verde Valley.  This group is operating under the umbrella of VVREO.  The Town of Clarkdale and the City of Sedona took the lead in putting together a cooperative of government entities, interested businesses, schools,  institutions and individuals whose sole purpose is to accomplish the mission and vision of the VVBC.

  • Generated resolutions of support for utility-level broadband from the five Verde Valley municipalities and Yavapai County
  • Hold representation on the Governor’s Digital Activity Council
  • Securing planning funds through NACOG, the Verde Valley is one of the first three communities to be supported by these statewide funds
  • Leading the Hwy 260 Broadband aggregate study and implementation

VERDE VALLEY AGRICULTURE COALITION

The Verde Valley Agriculture Coalition (VVAgC) is an organization formed under the auspices of the Verde Valley Regional Economic Organization for those interested in all facets of agriculture in the region.  Members represent land owners, growers, producers, and educators as well as public sector organizations and non-profits concerned about retaining and enhancing the Verde’s abilities to feed itself with safe, nutritious, locally grown food.

  • Facilitated Valley-wide planning initiative
  • Serve as fiscal agent
  • Partner on Valley-wide initiative for the renaissance of agriculture
  • Participate in local food forums

  • Provide public and private sector leaders with an opportunity to keep informed on major issues

COMMUNITY AND COMPARATIVE DEVELOPMENT COST RESOURCE GUIDES

  • Received a grant to develop complementary and consistent information for towns, cities and unincorporated areas to make  available on our website to businesses interested in the Verde Valley

CAPITAL CREATION

  • Received a $200,000 Rural Business Enterprise Grant from the USDA to establish a revolving loan fund that supports entrepreneurial business activity
  • Repayment of loans plus interest enable VVREO to grow the fund and issue ongoing loans
  • Additional funding pending from the USDA
  • Providing community education on other funding opportunities including Crowd Funding, ACA funding, etc.

VVREO SUPPORT INITIATIVES: The VVREO Board of Directors does not make decisions regarding the project. However, the Board is kept informed and provides appropriate assistance if requested.

VERDE VALLEY WINE CONSORTIUM

The mission of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium non-profit organization is the overall advancement of the wine industry, tourism, economic development and education in the Verde Valley. Its duties include collecting and distributing valuable data and information to our members, and protecting and assisting the grape growers and wineries interest in the Verde Valley. HIGHWAY 260 PROJECTS (Including BROADBAND)

  • Support widening Highway 260 in order to provide ease of transportation for goods, services and people along this important route in the Verde Valley

YAVAPAI COUNTY SECTOR STRATEGIES

  • Invited to attend statewide sector strategies in Phoenix
  • Sectors include viticulture, energy, precision manufacturing and medical technology and services
  • Board members taking an active role in plan development

SEDONA-VERDE VALLEY TOURISM COUNCIL

  • Provide support for critical tourism and economic partnership between Chambers of Commerce and destinations drivers in the Verde Valley
  • Support the GeoTourism marketing and branding project in the Verde Valley

CULTURAL TOURISM

  • Support the preservation, expansion of knowledge, research, education and understanding of prehistory and American Indian history in the Verde Valley

FILM INDUSTRY

  • Support a growing industry that has the potential to expand workforce opportunities in the Verde Valley in partnership with Yavapai Collge, the City of Sedona, and local businesses and individuals involved in the film industry
