Yavapai College

Yavapai College, which welcomed its first students in 1968, delivers quality higher learning, technical training, cultural enrichment and economic development resources to Yavapai County residents and communities. The College offers a wide range of in-person and online academic and career programs countywide, hosting classes, community gatherings and cultural activities at campuses in Prescott, Clarkdale (in the Verde Valley), Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Sedona and the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) near the Prescott Airport. 

Valley Academy for Career and Technology Education (VACTE)

The Valley Academy for Career and Technology Education (VACTE) in the Verde Valley delivers career and technical education (CTE) to high school students in cooperation with their member districts by providing a pathway for students to earn industry certification and college credit, as well as experience career-based learning, hands-on instruction, and leadership development. Programs include agriculture, audio production, automotive, business, cabinetmaking, culinary arts, digital photography, drafting, film and TV, graphic design, law and public safety, sports medicine, stagecraft, and welding. VACTE has 7 CTE programs which provide career training in the fields of certified nursing assistant, construction, culinary arts, fire science, medical assistant, phlebotomy, and teacher training.

A strong partnership with Yavapai College has been developed to provide dual or concurrent enrollment courses, whereby, high school students are able to earn both high school and college credits for the courses in which they are enrolled. VACTE pays for the college tuition, textbooks, and uniforms for these programs. VACTE courses also support several industry recognized licenses and certifications.
